CA — India's gold standard for accounting and tax
The Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification from ICAI is the most powerful finance credential in India for audit, taxation, and compliance. No other credential gives equivalent access to Big 4 (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PWC) at entry level, or the CFO/FD track at Indian corporate groups. The three-level CA exam (Foundation, Intermediate, Final) is one of India's toughest professional examinations — only 10–15% clear each level. The mandatory 3-year articleship with a CA firm gives genuine industry experience.
CFA — India's standard for investment management
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) from CFA Institute is the global standard for investment management, portfolio management, and equity research. At ~₹1.5–2.5L for all three levels, it's significantly cheaper than an MBA. It can be done entirely while working. CFA Charter opens roles at: mutual fund houses (Mirae, SBI AMC, Nippon AMC), portfolio management services (PMS), SEBI-registered investment advisors, proprietary trading desks, and wealth management firms. IIM certificates (especially IIM Ahmedabad AGMP) combined with CFA gives the strongest combination for VP Finance/CIO track.
